Machine Setup Operator (18496)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Safely set-up and tear-down Slide equipment to Client standards, as well as safely and efficiently operate Slide equipment to make parts at-rate and accurately to print. Required to safely operate an overhead crane to load/unload raw materials and dies within the department. Trains and provides guidance to Slide Operators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

· Setup Slide equipment to Client standards to ensure jobs can be run safely and at-rate

· Evaluate active production runs to ensure run at-rate. May need to submit documentation to Mfg Eng for routing updates

· May do troubleshooting of production and setup runs, and make modifications within specified limits

· Will provide direction to Slide Operators during production runs, as necessary as well as train Slide Operators

· Accurately record labor, inventory, update tool maintenance requests, and job data in ERP system

· Provide continuous improvement suggestions for jobs running through the Slide Department

· Assist Tool & Die personnel in troubleshooting, adjusting tools, and or change over tooling.

· Will operate a crane to load and unload raw materials

· Ability to perform duties of a Slide Operator

· Other duties as assigned or required

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

· High school diploma or general education (GED) and two years of relevant manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Demonstrate a high degree of mechanical aptitude; engineering background a plus

· Ability to do count, add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

· Ability to read and comprehend instructions, specifications, and memos

· Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) preferred

· Able to utilize computer and input data

· Ability to interpret part prints and accurately measure a manufactured part using advanced metrology equipment (i.e. height gage, CMM, Comparator) preferred
