SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Plant Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician II performs a variety of maintenance and repair work to production equipment, tool room equipment, buildings and facilities requiring a broad knowledge of maintenance skills, and general facilities. This includes working with hydraulics, pneumatics, metal fabrication, plumbing, machine tools, power distribution, electrical controls, hand tools, and all facilities requirements. Responsible for quality and efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform skilled operations such as filing and aligning bearings, spindles, and shafts; adjust feed and limit mechanisms, gibs, and ways
- Perform various activities relative to the installation and relocation of existing exiting machines and equipment to involve dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting, and aligning operations
- Perform maintenance on buildings, facilities, and the grounds
- Makes fabrications using sheet metal, torch, plasma, press brakes, saws, shears, and welding skills in MIG/TIG/ARC
- Can use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments
- Makes fabrications in wood using hand tools and carpentry skills
- Troubleshoot lighting systems problems, can install new systems
- Familiar with machine tools
- Operate a mill, lathe, drill press, grinders
- Knowledge of basic shop math to be able to machine parts per drawings.
- Ability to read detail technical drawings, assembly drawings, elementary electrical schematics, pneumatic schematics, and hydraulic schematics
- Familiar with machine lubrication
- Perform preventive on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning units and predictive maintenance activities
- Office practices: safety, LOTO, equipment files and manuals, ISO maintenance procedures, MRO parts ordering, parts storage, and inventory
- Strong technical aptitude
- Ability to use sound judgment
- Ability to perform in a multifaceted work environment
- Operates overhead crane while moving product
- Complete & maintain all required paperwork of maintenance logs and files
- Maintains a safe & clean work environment & departmental housekeeping standard

- Responsible for strict adherence to all company/departmental policies and procedures related to safety and conduct rules and other regulations
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor

REQUIREMENTS:

- Associates degree or apprenticeship program is necessary as well as 5-7 years of relevant industrial experience and 3 years extensive experience in a variety of maintenance trades
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Knowledge of various software packages including CMMS, PLC logic, Microsoft Office, EMS, and part drawing
- Requires 3-6 months of relevant manufacturing experience
- Advanced shop mathematics; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
- Thorough understanding of technicianal drawing symbols
- Thorough understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic drawing symbols
- Ability to write standard documentation
- Basic blueprint reading, reading, & writing skills
- Regular attendance is required; punctual, dependable
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram, or schedule form
- Interpersonal skills & friendly positive attitude

- Occasionally required to walk, sit, reach above shoulders, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, squat, & bend
- Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds waist high up to 200 feet away, occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
