Brake Press Operator - 1st & 2nd Shift (20028)

Job Purpose:   Sets up and operates production equipment primarily the Brake Press in a safe and efficient manner to produce parts the meet or exceed customer requirements.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Responsible for set-up and operation of Brake Press for a variety of unusual Brake Press operations
  • May also set-up and operate Punch Press
  • Work from fairly complicated drawings, layouts, sketches, and templates to meet close tolerance and print specifications.
  • Plan sequence of operations and select dies when not specified (as required)
  • Make machine adjustments
  • Must use drawing software to locate dimensioning
  • Responsible for initial quality checks
  • Responsible for maintaining the quality and production standards
  • Perform routine maintenance on the brake press (as required)
  • Fill out all paperwork as required
  • Follow all company policies and procedures as applicable to position
  • Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures (5S)
  • Understand and follow health, safety, security, quality, and environmental practices as required for IATF, 19649/ISO 9001:2015

Non-essential Job Functions:
  • Other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as requested by the Production Supervisor or other member of management

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1-year related Set-Up experience or equivalent
  • Forklift certification preferred

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of hand tools
  • Knowledge of gauges to check parts (micrometers, calipers, drop indicators, protractors and square)
  • Ability to set-up machines
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to read drawings
  • Requires a fundamental knowledge of machine shop operations acquired by on-the-job training
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers

Physical Demands:
  • Requires standing, intermittent sitting, and walking.
  • Regularly required to communicate and listen.
  • Occasionally required to reach above shoulders, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls

Training Requirements:
  • Training requirements as applicable to the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System

Work Environment:
  • Primary work is performed in manufacturing area
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Protective Equipment/Clothing Required:
  • Ear plugs
  • Safety glasses with side shields
  • Steel toed safety shoes
  • Mask (as required)
